Outlook 2003 Uses Wrong Email Account

Doesn't work, mate! Even if I select another account using the Accounts
button, it still sends my emails using the last account in the list.

Looks like a serious bug in Outlook 2003 to me!

You can select the account by pressing the Accounts button next to the send
button. The best thing is to configure all the accounts with the SMTP server
from your ISP.

Hi,

I have a problem with Outlook 2003. I have a number of POP3 e-mail
account
which receive emails correctly, eg.

account1 (default)
account2
account3

When I send any emails however, all emails are sent with account3 no
matter
which account I want to use.

If I delete account3, then Outlook uses account2 no matter what (ie.
Outlook
just uses the last account in the accounts list whatever I choose).

Any ideas? I would like to use Outlook for all accounts, so deleting
accounts isn't really a solution.

Thanks

Brent

Try creating a new mail profile from scratch and see if that helps.

I'm seeing exactly the same behavior here... and it IS a serious bug.

Have you found a work around, or better yet, a solution?

Having exactly the same problem. Has anyone managed to sort it out yet. As it
is an option within the Outlook programme, surely Microsoft should have an
answer as I presume everyone wanting to use multiple accounts are having the
same problem.

That presumption would not be accurate. I use multiple accounts and the
issue has never occurred for me. There is an issue with OL 2003 whereby,
instead of giving you a non-delivery report, it will try to send a message
on an alternate account if it can't send using the specified account. That
will be corrected in OL 2003 SP2. The underlying problem of not being able
to reach the sending server, though, is the root cause. Correct that and
the problem goes away. Scanning outgoing messages with an AV program, a
server timeout that is too short, and failure to authenticate to the
outgoing server all contribute to this.

I don't think ANY of us have an issue with that. What I DO have an issue
with is that
it does not report the error, and takes the liberty of changing the "FROM"
address on the email.

That seriously impacts the messages that I send, and the way that I send them.

My company is a Microsoft ISV, and I recently had to convert from Eudora to
Outlook for customer demos (yeah, the owner is on the road hawking product).

In nearly 10 years of using Eudora, it NEVER kicked this kind of error, and
when the server had a problem, it respected me and my wants and told me of
the problem, and asked me what I wanted to do.

Microsoft's handling of this problem is typical.. "it's a feature". Bull.
It's not, and they know it.

Their behavior is NOT ISO9000 compliant and does not instill confidence.

It wlll be fixed in Office 2003 SP2, I hear, to produce an NDR.

This issue has been pissing me off for a year now, and the problem is only
getting worse now. It is driving me nuts that it keeps routing away from my
company accounts and sending emails to my customers from my personal Yahoo
account. Not only does it make it that much harder to track, but it is
completely unprofessional. When is SP2 supposed to be out? If Microsoft's
track record is anything to go by, it'll be another year before this problem
is fixed.
