Outlook 2003 sometimes fails to prompt for which profile to use

I'm using Outlook 2003 SP2 with two profiles and sometimes Outlook fails to
prompt for which profile to open. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or
reason to when it prompts and when it doesn't.

Diane,

Thanks for the response. I understand what you're saying, but this happens
even if I've just rebooted and it's the first time Outlook's being run.
Thanks again.

then you don't have outlook set to prompt. Go into control panel, mail, show
profiles. Set the profile you prefer most of the time in the always use this
profile selector then select it to always prompt.

Please note that I'm prompted sometimes (roughly 50%) but not always. The
setting in Mail/Profiles is correctly set.

if it happens on a reboot before you've even opened outlook, something is
starting up that uses outlook data and puts a holds on it before you try to
open outlook.

the only other thing that could be happening is you are using different
shortcuts to open outlook and the one is configured with a profile switch so
it always opens a specific profile.
