App fails to ask which profile to use on start up

Using Vista with Outlook 2003. This is a recent problem. I have had 2
profiles for going on 2 years. When starting Outlook I was always prompted
for the profile to use. As of late last week Outlook prompts me for a profile
only on booting up. If I subsequently close Outlook and reopen, it does not
ask me for a profile and loads the last profile I used. I must log out of the
system and restart before I am again prompted. I checked the profiles and
both are listed and the setting to prompt for a profile is marked. Any ideas?

Thanks Diane. I did recently install a new version of Intuit Quickbooks so it
might well be the culprit. It is the only thing that has changed on my
computer that I can recall. I checked services, processes and applications in
Task Manager but could not find any reference to any Outlook items. That led
me to install a utility advertised on the page you sent me. It is a
"shutdown" utility for Outlook. I tried it and it also did not do the job. I
tried to uninstall it but there is no uninstall. So I am trying to find a
solution that problem. But, when trying to disable that Add In I noticed an
option to a power toy I installed before. This utility allows Outlook to send
an item to Onenote. After I unchecked this Add In the problem has gone away.
So I think it was related to the Onenote application Add In. Now back to the
Shutdown utility uninstall problem. So in a round about way, you helped me
fix my issue. Thank you. Any ideas on how to get rid of the shutdown utility?

It was "Outlook Shutdown" from Slipstick.com

That one is a com addin. If there is not an option for uninstall in Control
Panel, Add/Remove programs (or Programs in Vista), you can disable it in
tools, options, other, addins. It should be under Com addins.
