Outlook 2003 slow opening atachments

Win XP Pro, Office 2003. When opening Word or Excel attachments in emails
through Outlook 2003, takes 20-30 seconds. Opening same docs from outside
Office takes 2-5 seconds.

It's not our anti-virus or spyware programs. Has to be something about
Outlook. Have latest Outlook updates.
PST file is 1.5 GB. But this is under the 2.0GB limit.

Thanks all!

Thanks Kathleen - that was a help, as I was not able to locate that temp file
before.
Had my client (I'm a PC consultant) delete the contents of that temp folder.

Opening Excel or Word attachments did not get faster - but now we have a new
Excel error. Through Outlook or directly in Excel we get a gray spreadsheet
background and "Cannot access read only document "my documents" [OK] OOn
clicking [OK] get "Cannot access my documents". His default Excel doc file
path is a network drive (we checkked that it was correct), so Excell
shouldn't be looking in his "my documents".

Word does not give this error, only Excel.

Restarting Win XP Pro didn't help.

Also another problem: When opening attached Word docs only, Outlook seems to
think they have VB code or such - get "Runtime error: Invalid proceedure
call." After OK'ing that message, the Word attachment opens fine - after the
usual long delay.

Appreciate your help!
