Outlook 2003 running under Vista

David

I recently upgraded one of my machines to Vista. Every time I log on I have
to to reenter log on details, I beleive this is a known issue, is there a
resolution?.

Having bought a fully licenced copy of Office 2003 I have no intention of
spending £200 or so on a full copy 2007 version when I am perfectly happy
with the old one.

Or is there an upgrade at reduced price?

It's not a known issue. Outlook 2003 is fully supported on Vista. After
you upgraded your PC, did you try a new mail profile?

I need to find out where I asked the question previously, I certainly had
responses which led me to believe it was a known issue.

If it is not, then the problem I have having is that Outlook will not
remember my passwords as entered inn "Email Accounts". Responses I had
previously led me to believe that the passwords will be remembered as long as
the program is open but will not be retained when it is closed.

I find this to be true.
The remember password option is selected.

What am I doing wrong ? I access the Web via a LAN connnection and router.
When I click Send/Receive Outlook requests a Network Password and the
password box is blank

It's a known issue for Outlook 2002 on Vista. That's not a supported
configuration.

I'll ask again: did you create a new mail profile?

Thank you, I apologise for my error on checking I find it is Outlook 2002 I
am running. >

I believe I have done, but as Outlook 2002 is "Not supported" that is now
irrelevant.

Does anyone know if there is an upgrade route please?

May I ask what MVP stands for, I cannot remember.

You can upgrade to either Outlook 2003 or 2007. Either is supported on
Vista. If you upgrade ONLY Outlook, however, you'll lose the Office
integration features like mail merge and possibly spell check. Were I in
your position, I'd look for a used retail copy (not an OEM copy) of Office
2003 on eBay or Amazon.

I have a similar issue. I recently istalled Office 2003 on my Vista Ultimate
machine. However, I was getting th same lack of remembering my password in
recent weeks in Outlook on my previous XP desktop. It began spontaneously.
And yes, I deleted the previous email account wand set up a new one for my
new comcast.net account. Thoughts?

That's not what Brian was talking about. An email account is NOT the same as
an Outlook Profile. To create a new Outlook Profile you need to go to
Start-Control Panel-Mail-Show Profiles-Add.

I made the change under "Start-Control Panel-Mail-Show Profiles-Add" but
again, the system did not retain the password. This route lso brought up the
same dialogue as I had been using unsuccesfully in Outlook-Tools-... Next
idea?

Accounts and mail profiles are not the same thing. Start with a new mail
profile.
