Outlook 2003 offine with POP3

Is it possible to use Outlook 2003 offline email with POP3? I have my pst
stored in My Documents and have that redirected to my home folder on a server
so it's available anywhere on my network. The thing is, if I'm not on the
network, then I can't do email at all since Outlook can't find the pst file.

So can I set up Outlook with my POP3 account to use offline mail stored on
my C drive so I can create new emails, work in my calendar, etc. and then
have it synch up with my pst file on the server when I'm back online such as
is possible with an Exchange environment?

No.
You might get away with a paid MSN account using he Outlook Connector. that
way your email would be accessible from anywhere. an IMAP account would also
provide the same.

That's too bad. I'm sure there will be an increasing number of people who use
home networks and then following, an increasing number of people keeping
their pst file on a central location. They would all be candidates for what I
asked about. So I either have to choose between keeping my pst file on my C
drive (and not having server backup) or not having offline mail.
I think Microsoft should put offline capability in Outlook when using a POP3
account instead of just Exchange.

You have offline capability. You just can't use a PST that is somewhere else
when it isn't available. For the type of offline capability you refer to you
need a server to host it.

With Outlook and Exchange, offline capability is via an ost file that gets
created on your PC and syncs up with the server when back online. But I've
been unable to figure out how to enable this with my ISP POP3 account.

Sorry, I have no resolution to your question. I figured I'd put my question
here since it is very close to yours. I n

eed to setup OUTLOOK 2003 to work the same at home (POP3) and office
(Exchange 2000 Server).

I have a user with a tablet PC that wants to use Outlook 2003 seamlessly at
home and office. He doesn't want to use OWA because he has other POP3
accounts setup in Outllook 2003 and wants to keep it all in one place.

In the office he accesses everything via Exchange Server. When he is home he
cannot get Outlook 2003 to open because it cannot find the Exchange Server.
If I set him up with POP3 he can use email either place but will not have a
calendar on the server he can update and for other employees to access.

Is there anyway to get the best of both worlds here?
