[Outlook 2003/IE 7] Problems clicking e-mail links???

I've been having this problem lately when I click on an e-mail link, several
10 IE windows will open, my computer will freeze for a moment, and then I'll
receive and error message stating that my e-mail isn't setup properly. 50% of
the time after this happens, I have to reboot to regain control of my
computer. The rest of the time, I can simply Crtl-Alt-Del and get the excess
IE windows closed.

I've just installed SP2 for Office 2003 in hopes that it will help, but it
hasn't.

Can anyone help me fix this problem?

Thanx in advance.

I just started having the exact same problem, with me about 21 IE windows open up. And this happens EVERY time I click on an email link in a received email. This is very aggravating.

It all started when a few days ago I upgraded to Outlook 2007 (just Outlook, not the other Office products) and started having other problems. My machine was built in early 2005 and has been having trouble lately so I suspected that the problems I was having with Outlook 2007 was because my machine could not handle the more robust and resource hogging Outlook 2007 so I uninstalled Outlook 2007 and re-installed Outlook 2003 and used a pst file that had not been used with Outlook 2007. I even uninstalled the entire Office 2003 and reinstalled to see if that would fix the problem. Did not work.

I also have reinstalled all the service packs and other MS files, no luck.

I will be building a new box in a few weeks with Vista and Office 2007 Pro and hope that this annoyance goes away, but in the mean time was wanting some resolution. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for reading!
