Outlook 2003 hang every 10 seconds

Every 10 seconds Outlook hangs for a few seconds. Very annoing. It even
afects the performance of all other running applications. Very difficult to
shutdown (even taskmanager freezes).

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 6400 notebook. Clean install of Win XP Pro.

Installed Office 2003 Pro (with Outlook). No pst file. Clean profile and new
configuration of Outlook.

Tried the following:

- Repair
- Reinstall
- Played arround with the conection lag and with the timeout settings.

Any idea what could be going wrong?

Look at mail polling to make sure it's set to every 10 minutes or more. Less
can make OL stall. You must have a pst.

Thank you, Mary.

Mail polling is set to 10 minutes.

I have a pst. What I ment was that I used a clean installation of Outlook.
Not a 2 Gb pst. The problem appeared from the very first moment I used
Outlook.

I have a much older notebook, without any problem with OL 2003, working with
a big pst file (over 1 Gb).

Regards.

I found the solution!!! And you are not going to beleve it:

Uninstalling MediaDirect (preinstalled on every new Dell Inspiron laptop)
solved the problem.

Incredible, but true.

I always wipe new PCs and reinstall only whay I want. Most preinstalled
software apps are demo or limited life versions anyway. Much of it is
included because the app vendors pay the PC vendors to include it and it's
nothing more than ad-ware.
