Outlook 2003 e-mails updated in real time...

i am considering upgrarding to Outlook 2003 for PC and am wondering if it is
a good idea. i have been using Outllook 2003 for Mac here at work to brows
only my personal email account. i still use Outlook 2002 for our general
office email.

the thing is, Outlook 2003 for Mac does not update itself in real time
instead it does a typical send and receive updating typical of POP3 and IMAP
clients. this is totally fine for my personal email address (which is very
low traffic), but not so good for our general office email which has a volume
of 800-1200 messages a day and gets viewed/used by myself and another 8
people in my office.

i ask the above questions b/c the interface and look of Outlook 2003 for PC
(which i have not downloaded yet and can see only via screenshots and online
demos) is very similar. i would hope however that the functionality is
similar to Outlook 2002 (XP).

i really like the junk mail filtering capabilites of Outlook 2003 for Mac,
but honestly we have very, very little spam in our general office e-mail
account so the junk mail filtering is not really an issue. however, i would
like to use Outlook 2003 to filter various e-mails and make them easire to
deal with (it often takes us all morning just to read emails that come in
overnight and that is a total pain.) unfortunately the filtering abilites of
Outlook 2002 (XP) are totally limited and not very helpful.

i'd apreciate any advice / experiences from anyone who feels like sharing.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to reply.

What makes you think Outlook on a PC will behave any differently. Outlook
has never updated "in real time". The current best practice is that a
send/receive should occur no more frequently than every ten minutes.

Outlook 2002's rules capability for filtering incoming mail is quite on par
with that of Outlook 2003. What do you find inadequate?
