Outlook 2003 Crash after entering any phone number

Outlook 2003 SP3 on local exchange server 2003 SP2
I'm able to enter a phone number in any one of the phone fields but
immediately after hitting tab or enter key Outlook crashes. Same result
immediately when clicking on adjacent buttons to bring up window entry screen.
It seems that a change to the profile clears the problem the next time you
restart Outlook but this only lasts until you start Outlook a second time.
OWA access works fine and works fine on another computer configured for same
user.

I'm having the same problem.

Adding or editing any phone numbers causes Outlook 2003 to crash and
restart.

Have you found anything to help in correcting this malfunction?

I'm having the same problem. Here's a work around that worked for me.

1. Forward an existing contact with the fields of interest already filled in
to yourself.
2. Open the new email and open the attachment by double clicking it.
3. Edit the fields with the new contact information and close it by clicking
the X in the upper right corner, answer yes when prompted to save changes.
4. From the email drag the attachment to the Contacts folder in the Folder
List.

Thanks for your input. After isolating the issue to the Microsoft Telephony
Service, I was able to employ this work around:

-Paused the Telephony service, tested: I was able to save the contacts phone
numbers without any problem.
-Disabled the Telephony and Remote Access Connection Manager services.
-Restarted, tested contact phone number editing: OK.

NOTE:
By disabling these services, you will limit some native capabilities.
