Outlook 2002 mail merge problem

I follow the mail merge wizzard to create mailing labels from my contact
file, but the output in each label is "<<next record>>". What do I need to do
to output the mailing labels from my contacts?.

Additional info, I am using word 2002, and the "merge" button in the wizzard
is ghosted and inactive.
