Outlook 2002 CPU usage 99 %

I have a pc Win XP sp1, running office XP, Outlook 2002,
hangs when scrolling down , CPU usage 99 % for a few
minutes, it repairs, but after clicking somewhere, it
hangs again.
I have installed Office XP SP 3, but that didn't solve
the problem. Outlook is the only open program.
Could it be the size of the pst file : 1.109.953 KB.
Any suggestions.

Absolutely, if you are trying to open a 1 GB mail file, you are going to have a long wait.
Either delete a ton of mail, or start a new PST & archive that one, at least to test it.
