outlook 2000 closes for no reason

After a brief period of time Outlook closes with an error message that says
Outlook generated errors and will close. Running Windows 2000 with the old
Microsoft Postoffice program. I've done a repair of Office, reinstalled it,
changed profiles. I haven't deleted all the profiles and started over, but I
don't want to lose the info I have in my current profile. Help!

I found another post that suggested starting Outlook in safe mode. It seems
to be working so far, but can anyone tell me how to fix the problem so I
don't have to run in safe mode. BTW, if you go to Start, Run, browse out to
the outlook executable (mine was in
%systemroot%\programfiles\microsoftoffice\outlook.exe) and add "safe" after
the quotation mark, it launches in safe mode.

If it works in safe mode, then the most likely cause is an add-in
interfering with Outlook's operation. Check in the Add-In Manager and the
COM Add-Ins pages.
