outline format

I have looked in help several times and have not found how to change
formatting for the outline view. Currently I am getting all sorts of odd
formatting with some bold, some italic, various size fonts, etc. I find this
annoying. How can I change it?

If Outline view is applying Heading styles, that would be the case. There is
a toggle button on the Outlining toolbar to Show/Hide Formatting.
