OT- Odd Linux/Acronis behavior on laptop

I use Acronis True Image 11 Home to do disk image backups of various
computers. When doing a system drive backup I always boot the Acronis
DVD, which is Linux based, and image the drive w/o the OS running. The
DVD works fine on my desktop computers.

But I have this Compaq Presario F767NR laptop that is having issues with
the DVD method. (The laptop has TIH installed on it and the program
works fine from within Windows Vista 32bit.)

First, the DVD will not boot right away. I have to do this little dance:
It will spin up and "Starting Acronis Loader" will appear on the screen,
but the flashing curser will just sit there forever.
I hit the power button to restart, it boots and proceeds to the same
point above. Sometimes it freezes again, other times it will load Acronis.
When it does load Acronis I get the Welcome screen, choose True Image
Home, it proceeds, then it hits a point where the screen normally
changes from blue to black, and freezes again.
I press the power button quickly, and it proceeds to the program
interface and I can use it as usual for the backup.

But - It took 13 hours to backup and verify 106GB of data! 8 hours to do
the backup, about 3 minutes per GB (Normal is 3GB/min).
The fan in the laptop runs high during this process - much higher than
normal.

When it finished and I go to exit, it does not boot back into Windows as
the desktops do. I get a console window. I need to remove the DVD and
press the power button to restart.
Restarting does not go smoothly. After the BIOS posts the laptop shuts
down. Pressing the power button again starts the same loop.
Eventually it will boot and I get the Windows Startup window (repair or
Normal). I select Normal and sometimes it shuts off, eventually it boots
into Windows and all is fine.

There are no problems booting into Windows at any other time. Only when
I attempt to run the Acronis DVD.

An Ubutu DVD boots and runs without issue.

Anyone in this group seen this odd behavior? Any ideas?

Never Mind.

The Linux loader on the TI 11 DVD is old. Acronis has a new disk, which
is available as an iso file that you can burn to CD. It contains a newer
ISOLINUX loader and upgraded drivers.

Anyone searching and finding this post: Just register your product with
Acronis and in your My Account window there will be tab for downloads
and the ISO update is right there.
