looking for a newsgroup to locate html / webpage addons (or discussions
about) such as:

http://www.allheadlinenews.com/content-services/ (want to add an rss
feed from other sites to my webpage)
Protean;

I'd like to plug a javascript that I've been using for about a year now.
http://jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/feed/index.php?s=about. It pulls
whatever rss feed you want (I use the BBC, Wash Post, Register, etc) and
formats it into pre-defined html or lets you mark it up.

It's pretty nifty, GPL and, very flexible so as to fit in with a web's
theme.

i'll give it a shot.

can it be modified for podcasts:

http://podcast.com/home.php

Protean;

Sure. It works fine. If you want to see for yourself, open up two web
browser windows:
- http://podcast.com/home.php and the other,
- http://jade.mcli.dist.maricopa.edu/feed/index.php?s=build.

Back in your podcast page:
- click on which podcast publisher you want to follow.
(My eg: under "directory," I click "Art & Culture" and then "PBS POV.")
- Go to the left of POV's logo near top, you'll see two buttons.
- The bottom one is orange and labelled "rss."
- Copy that button's link (ie http://www.pbs.org/pov/rss/podcast.xml)

Go to the FEED2JS link cited above:
- Paste the rss feed's url
(into the box labeled "URL Enter the web address of the RSS Feed")
- Click on "preview feed."

That demonstrates that the javascript works. The options below lay out
what to include in the feed. There are other pages on the FEED2JS site
that offer pre-fab html formats.

If you'd like a bit more of a personalized tour, email me (see the
"address'" instructions for the legitimate address.
