OS hangs

I am running Windows 2000 Server on a Compaq DL380 G2 and
it is hanging during boot up on a compaq file,
cpqphp.sys. This is the file for the hot plug pci device
and Compaq is telling me that this is an OS issue. I have
updated the version of this file and it doesn't seem to
work. Has anyone else seen this issue? It should not be
trying to load this file since I am running Windows 2000
and I have verified that the OS is set to Windows 2000 in
the setup configuration in the Compaq utilities. Any
ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

How do you know it's hanging on this file?

Describe, please, what you mean by "hanging" and how you've concluded this
file is the culprit.

In any case, if you don't want to the file to even try to load, do not
update it, simply delete it or rename it.
If it ever indeed caused the system to crash, then it won't anymore !
