Orphaned NT4.0 servers in active directory

In the default computers container, I have a listing for
three NT4.0 domain controllers. These servers have been
removed from the domain over a year ago. Since that time,
the domain level has been raised to AD native mode. I
would like these entries to go away, but I can not delete
them. "The DSA object cannot be deleted."

I have tried NTDSUTIL and many of the help articles, but
when I get to the point where I list the servers on this
site/this domain, the only DC to select is my present DC.
None of the older NT4 machines are there to select and
delete.

Please help.

JWK,

You might want to make sure that you have deleted them from Active Directory
Sites and Services MMC ( in the NTDS Settings ). Have to admit that it has
been a long time since I have removed a WINNT 4.0 BDC from a WIN2000 AD
environment so this step might not be necessary. You might want to then
open up ADSIEdit ( you will need to install the Support Tools in order to
have ADSIEdit available to you ) and change the userAccountControl value to
4096. You should then be able to delete it.....

HTH,

Cary
