Opinions on "off-lease" CRT monitors?

Jon Danniken

Hello,

I am needing a new monitor, and am considering the following off-lease CRT:
http://www.azatek.com/details.asp?iid=607

The price is affordable, and it is a decent quality (if new) monitor, but
I'm not sure about trusting the whole "off-lease" concept.

What is your opinion regarding units such as this?

Thanks,

Jon

Looks like a real bargain - but
Determine how old it is. Monitors gradually decline in performance as
the years go by.
Determine what it will cost to ship - it is heavy.
And of course, make sure you've got enough desk space, both side to side
and front to back.

Also look at the seller's Terms and Conditions - if you don't like the
monitor, you probably have to pay the freight charges back and perhaps a
restocking fee.

Some time ago I bought a 19" monitor from Directron, used, for
about $50. The price was right, and it is still working fine 24/7,
but the shipping cost was a shock.

Very nice. CRT monitors are one of those items theres no reason to buy
new, unless you need the gtee for some reason. What you get therefore
depends on the company and how well they behave rather than the
technology. All monitors here are used and A1 quality, and reliability
has been good.

Thanks, Chuck. I looked at Directron and they do seem to have some good
deals right now on the 21" monitors; shipping would be be a bit more with
them, though.

It's good to know you had a good experience with a used unit.

Thanks,

Thanks, NT. So I'm guessing you've done business with Azatek before?

Or the price is as good as with that off lease monitor.

I just picked one of those up myself, quite a bit cheaper than the
one he listed. Local too, so the freight cost problem is fixed too.

The operation selling them appeared to have got rather overstocked on
CRT monitors and wanted to get at least some of them out of the store.

Never even heard of them, they're on a different continent to me. Read
things with care. :)
