Joanne,

your computer is probably infested with spyware. My first
recommendation would be to install and run SpyBot.

You probably picked up some spyware/adware after installing some kind of
shopping/bargain finding toolbar or internet speed enhancer. They
hijacked your browser and are causing your problems.

First off, don't install anything from that Internet Optimizer website,
it'll make things worse.

Second, download, install, UPDATE and scan your computer using these two
spyware/adware removers. Delete everything they find:

Ad-Aware Free Edition:
www.lavasoftusa.com

Spybot Search and Destroy:
www.safer-networking.org

Third, keep Ad-Aware and Spybot updated and run scans every so often.

Also, check out your university's IT or Computing Center website. It
probably has lots of free software downloads and advice for this sort of
thing.
