Opentype font

Sorry for the confusion
I used "Ariel" because I was not sure it was Arial
It was just not Challenge Extra Bold Std.

Gents, not sure I fully understand what your conversation was about,
but while waiting for Font.com to respond I re-read
www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00076.htm
and installed Microsoft's TrueType font properties extension.
(when I installed it it said OpenType Properties??)

I looked at the Properties-CharSet/Unicode tab for the infamous font
and the only Supported Code Page is Macintosh Character Set (US Roman)

Is this significant to my problem??

Phil

Seriously though, what problems did you have with the OTF font at your
end?

PhilbillDick, not ignoring you, just collecting more info.

It doesn't show up when slides are uploaded to a web app. (Can't remember if
it's WebEx or LiveMeeting.)

Of course they're fine when you application share, but not when you upload.
I don't know if all *.otf extension OTF fonts would work this way or not but
I'm happy to try to do some tests.

The text doesn't show up at all or the text appears in some other font?

It may be an embedding issue ... as in "TT fonts will embed, T1/PS ones
won't".

Might be interesting to include an OTF of each flavor and see what
happens.

Appears in another font -- Arial, I believe.

I don't think embedding is set in the presentation at all, although yeah, I
figured it was probably either something to do with postscript or it was
related to embedding permissions in the font itself . I also don't know what
happens when you upload if you use a nonstandard TT font -- "chiller" or
something, for example.

Yes, it would be good to try. I'd like to get a couple of commercial fonts
in each flavor to test with. I'm not confident that this proprietary
"designed-for-them" font is really a good test.

I know enough to say that I'm surprised, but not enough to say that it's a
problem. A properly constructed Type 1-flavored OTF is cross-platform.
