Opens old documents with todays date

Whenever I open an old, saved document such as a memo that
I created with MS Word 2000, the DATE shows the current
date, instead of the date I originally typed in the
document. How do I stop MS Word 2002 from updating the
DATE on old documents?

Hi, Keith,

Right-click the date, select Toggle Field Code, and change the word "DATE"
to "CREATEDATE". Then press F9 to update the field.

To save yourself this trouble in new documents, make the same change in any
template you use.

Ok I tried that, but this is the field code that displays:
TIME \@ "MMMM d, yyyy

What should I do with that?
