Opening e-mail attachments

W

Winston

I am trying to figure out how to open a file on an email
attachment without saving it to my computer. I have
Windows XP and whenever I try to open an email attachment,
I get a message in the program in which I am trying to
open it that reads: "The path or filename is invalid."

Please help.

Thanks,
Winston

Go to MS downloads and download the excel reader and then
download the power point reader.

What is the program giving the error? I suppose it's possible that there
are still apps out there that don't handle file names with spaces.

The programs are MS Word and Powerpoint generally. I can
open the files if I save them to my computer, but I cannot
open them from the email attachment directly. Do I need a
reader? I don't think that the web files have spaces in
the name.

Thanks for your help.

Outlook Express and Yahoo Mail. I can click on the file
attachment, and it will open the proper software to read
it, but on whatever program (MS Word, PPT, or Excel) fails
to recognize the filename.

At least with OE the files are stored in your Temporary Internet Files
folder. Using IE's internet options dialog are you able to view your
Temporary Internet Files?

Thanks again for all of your help. I am able to see all
of my temp internet files. There are literally thousands
of them, but I don't seem to see the exact file that I am
trying to open even after I have clicked on the
attachment. For some reason the file doesn't register on
the computer. I don't know what the deal is.

Sorry running out of ideas. Perhaps someone in the windowsxp.general
newsgroup would have an idea.
