opening a port in router

I have a linksys router, i am running 4 computers wireless and two computers
wired.
I need to open a port in the router so I can host games online with friends.
If I connect the computer directly to the modem trhen I can host games, but
I can't seem to open a port so I can host games while the rest of my network
is still online..

I would recommend that you visit the site www.portforward.com
It has information on most makes and models of routers as well as an
excellent explanation of how to "open up ports"
