opening a document

When I open a document the virus scan always runs. This process takes much
longer than just opening a document. I do not need to run a virus scan on
documents I've created and know are safe. I've adjusted the macro security
to low but the scan still runs. How do I turn it off?

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, then disable the
Office Plugin that comes with it. See
