'Open With'

Hi,
Can anyone help? When I click on an Icon on my Desktop to Open it. A
Open With window pops up. I select Program (Internet Explorer) the program I
want to Open with, put a check in 'Always use the selected program' click
OK. It opens, but I have to do it everytime I click on the desktop icon.
This has only started to do this, after I installed Netscape 8, then
uninstalled it, and went back to using Internet Explorer. How can I make the
desktop icon open in Internet Explorer and make it open always in that
program, as it does not appear to hold the setting after clicking on the OK.

Assuming WinXP:

Have you re-set IE as your default browser?

Is IE chosen as the default at Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Set
Program Access and Defaults?

Hi PA Bear,
I am running WinXP, had set I.E. as default browser. But,
did not know about the Control Panel part, have now done that, and
everything now working again. I thank you for your help, much appreciated.
