Is there anyway to make video links open with wmp6.4 (it defaults to wmp9)?

This is a restricted network so i can't change the defaults

Windows version? Is WMP v6.4 (still) installed?

Your headers (Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2741.2600) tell me you're still
running woefully out-of-date and much less-secure versions of IE, OE and
Windows.

You can try searching for a file called mplayer2.exe

When you find it right click on one of the files you want to open, choose
open with and locate the program mplayer2, then check the box marked "Always
use this program to open this type of file"

I don't know if that's really what you want but it seems to work here if you
don't want all the bells and whistles that come with Media Player 9.

Please let me know if this works because I have been playing with some
software that needed to restrict the control a user might have over WMP9 and
I'd be interested to hear your results.

Email address should work but the info might be useful to others on here
too.

I've set videos to always open in mplayer2 - but the network restrictions
won't save the settings - i have also noticed that whilst video files
themselves open in wmp6.4, when accessed via explorer link the very same
video files open in wmp9 - grrrrrrr

hence i assume some i/explorer settings lurking around somewhere - i was
hoping there might be some 'open with' option with video links

p.s. only wmp6.4 can run a video in it's original size (i know because i
shot the original videos)- none of the later version know what the original
size is (despite the 100% settings, they just run it in some abitrary window
size)

wmp6.4 is installed by default, and it's still there if you dig around -
depite setting video file to open with it by default - hyperlinks don't seem
to acknowledge this - assume it must be some explorer settings somewhere
