WMP9 Video Halts Abruptly Mid-Playback--Audio Continues

D

David

Hello,
I'm having an issue with video playback in WMP9, wherein
all video files stop video playback mid-stream. Audio
continues normally, but video just.. stops. DVD video,
however, plays perfectly fine. DivX, XviD, Indeo, MPG,
etcetera, are the only ones seemingly affected.
What puzzles me is that all video players EXCEPT WMP9 work
flawlessly. This includes WMP6.4.
I tried reinstalling WMP9, thinking it was WMP9-specific,
but to no avail. I also tried reinstalling codecs (DivX,
DivX pro, Nimo, K-Lite--you name it) but that didn't work
either. Finally, I ran dxdiag, thinking it was a DirectX
issue. This, also, was not the problem, as I got the green
light that everything there was OK.
I've google'd extensively on the issue, but with no result.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You have kind of f***ed your system. Dont install any
codec's exact the ones you need. Codec packs are know for
screwing with windows media player. you dont need all of
that crap. just install a dshow thing like ffdshow. try
to uninstall that mess, though when i ran into the problem
after instaling nemo i had to report on request of
microsoft support. they said their was nothing i could do
to fix it.

Have you tried using Divx anti freeze? link is:

I rember having this problem some time ago when divx video stream would often get stuck on key frames. It also says it fixes the ms mpeg codec as well

To be honest though I think this was only an issue with the earlier versions of the divx codec. Seems to be fixed now in the later versions

Worth a try though.
