Open window freezes

Frequently, when I have a window open, whether it be in windows explorer or
going to different websites using Firefox or IE, the window freezes. I
cannot click a link to a different website or to a different section in
explorer. I found the only solution to fix this is to click on the task bar
at the bottom first, then i can click on a link. Sometimes this also does
not work; that's when i do ctl-alt-del. I dont have to delete anything from
there; just open that up. Then, again, I can click on links. I also can not
select things from drop down menus with my mouse; only using down arrow. I
updated to SP3 and did all available updates thinking something maybe that
would fix it, but it did not. Now, i just reinstalled windows. This also
did not fix it. I am stumped. I did a scan on my hard drive but found no
errors. Could it be a motherboard problem? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi,

Sounds as though it is not keeping focus. I would start by removing third
party/add on tool bars, etc. Also, check to see what all is running in the
background that isn't necessary via msconfig/startup and non-ms services.
Verify that all running processes are valid via the Task Manager.

Good luck and keep us posted.
