Open doc in Sharepoint with Notepad

Is there a way to open a Word document that is on a Sharepoint site with
Notepad. I have a user that does not have MS Word.

If the user does not need to create, edit or save documents, it might be
better if they downloaded and installed the free Word Viewer:

and the 2007 Compatibility Pack

OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org) is a free, open-source office suite
that includes a word processor that can read Word files.
