Open Access 2000 DB in Access 97?

I've tried the 'Convert Database' option in 'Tools' but all I get is the
'Unrecognised Format...' error. I've seen several posts that mention opening
old Access databases in a new version of Access, but none the other way
around. Can anyone help me with this, please?

Cheers,

Chris

That's because it can't be done. Access 2000 can convert a file to Access
97 format, but Access 97 cannot do this. Access 97 couldn't possibly know
how to convert from a newer version as the newer file format didn't exist
when Access 97 was produced.

You can't do it the other way around. That would be like trying to play a
CD in an old VCR.

You must open it in 2000 and save it down to a 97 format.

Well that explains that! Thanks for the extremely quick response Rick... and
Rick. I was hoping it would be like converting from Lotus or something.
(Naive, I suppose...)

Thanks anyway,

Chris
