OneCare deactivate Defender

Hello,
after install OneCare (1.5.178524) on Windows XP pro SP2, I try to open the
windows defender ( 1.1.1347.0) and get a messagebox about that Windows
defender is now inactive and click her to activate.
I click on the link and it seems that the defender works now.

Was this correct and useful, or is the windows defender senseless when I
have install OneCare?
I am not sure at this point, because why OneCare had disable the defender,
if this program are needed too?

OneCare 1.5 has a subset of Defender included. After a reboot, the
separate standalone version that most of us use will again be deactivated.
There are several items that are not included in the imbedded Defender,
most noticeably the Software Explorer. I have seen the recommendation not
to run both concurrently due to potential conflicts.
