one folder slow to open on mapped drive

Hello,
I am stumped - hope someone can help me!

I have just installed a new PC (replacing an older one) in a network with 4
other 2000 pro SP4 PCs and another 2000 pro SP4 acting as a server. The
server is running RAID 1, with 2 - 80GB drives, only about 6.5GB free. All
PCs have either Norton Int. Sec. 2005 or 2006, with the network ranges
allowed of 192.168.1.1 thru 192.168.1.254.
There are two mapped drives to shared folders on the server, and the new PC
will open those quickly. The problem comes when the new PC tries to open a
\DATA folder directly under one of the shared folders via Windows Explorer.
It contains at least 40,000 files and another 66 folders. All other PCs can
open this \DATA folder quickly. The new PC takes at least 1.5 to 2 minutes
for the flashlight to go away, then in about another 2-5 minutes, the
contents of the folder will be listed. The new PC can open other folders on
the mapped drive that have 20,000+ files just fine.
RAM has been changed, the NIC has been changed, the CAT5 cable changed, the
position in the hub changed, the operating system on the new PC wiped out &
reloaded (it first had XP Home, so I changed it back to 2000 pro), securities
and permissions checked and rechecked on the users, share permissions. The
server was defragged. No change in the content listing.
The only thing that I saw that was strange was that the new PC showed the
\DATA folder as Read-Only, while the other PCs showed it as NOT Read-Only. I
changed the attributes to not be Read-Only from the New PC, but still cannot
quickly access the folder.
Help! Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Keep the number of files in a each folder below 10,000. Anything
above this number will cause an exponential performance
deterioration.

Just found the fix by just changing the View on the folder from Details to
Large Icons and clicking on Reset all Folders button seemed to fix the
problem. 40,000+ files and 65+ folders are all being listed now on the
mapped drive within 5-6 seconds. Hope this helps others from being as
frustrated as I was.
