Onboard NIC wont work on XP 64 bit edition

Sorry if this is the wrong newsgroup.


I have an ASUS k8v motherboard with an AMD 64 3200+ 2GHz processor with 1.5
GB ram. The motherboard has an onboard network adapter (3com Gigabit
3c940.) I cannot install the drivers for it, nothing is accepted. I
have downloaded all kinds of drivers for my NIC that claim to work with XP64
but nothing works. I use bootit NG and have XP home and XP 64. XP home
works fine, no problems with my NIC.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get my NIC to work in XP64?

I would sincerely appreciate any help anyone can give me with this matter.

The correct drivers will be on the CD that came with the motherboard,
and should alos be available on Asus' web site.

I have that problem with Vista 64 bit..........no matter what It will not
accept the 64 bit or 32 bit driver for the build in NIC ..
so I spend $20.00 and bought a NIC card and it works perfectly....it might
be a work around for you as well.

newsgroup for the x64 OS. Here is one.
