You can always open it in Notepad. There is prbably nothing in it. Of course if it's full of Chinese or something yeah I'd be worried. But probably not. Look in it you'll see it's likely harmless. I read earlier that it has something to do with temp files. But the contents should put you at rest.

Ok, try number 2 :) Sorry replied to email instead of group :)

But, I had originally opened it up in Notepad and saw all my contacts. That
was why I was getting worried, although I shoulda mentioned that in my post
:) But, thanks for putting my troubled (paranoid) mind to rest ;)

This is a known bug in an OE update. It's a copy of your address
book. MS is aware of it and I'm sure it will be addressed in an
update soon.

Note - for OE questions, you will probably get a faster and more
expert answer if you post this to an
Outlook Express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x
microsoft.public.internet.outlookexpress.mac for OE for Macintosh

If those groups aren't carried on the news server that's carrying
this group try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server
that's the source for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

A good website for information on OE is:

I used to have it pop up on my c: drive as well. Not anymore thought, I
don't know what happened to it. Two possibilities: a) I visited windows
update, b) I installed Office 2000 Premium, which might have fixed that
problem.

Put your mind at ease, it's a copy of your address book. At least 5 beople
have asked about it. It's a known bug in OE, and will be fixed soon. Your
computer has not been hacked.
