On Logon, Can't Find Profile, 30 sec Countdown

Whenever I sign onto Windows, after the Black Screen with the Win XP logo
goes away, I get an error box that says:

Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the
default profile for the system.

DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the
registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.

then I can either press enter to bypass it, or it will go away in 30 sec.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this problem?

Thanks a lot

Try this
start>run and type

sysdm.cpl

Hardware>Hardware Profiles, remove the profile that does not say current.

Good Luck
