For the last three or so weeks (since either installing
an upgrade to Windows XP or installing a new version of
Norton Anti-virus software), I have been informed by my
system that files in various places on the hard drive
have become corrupt and that I need to scan the disk for
errors. At that point, I'll run the check disk utility
and most times will reset the PC so that a thorough scan
can be made after the reset. Additionally, about every
third time I restart the PC, the check disk utility runs
prior to letting me sign on and I am told each time that
orphaned entries are being removed and that lost data is
being recovered.
Any ideas on what is causing this?
