OLE registration error after downloading Outlook Connector

M

Mary Ross

I'm using MS Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I want to add my Qwest
Mail by Windows Live email account (a free account) to Outlook. Windows Live
Help says to download and install Outlook Connector.

I followed the instructions given for doing so. Everything seemed to work
just fine. However, when I went to open my emails, I received this error:
"Can't open this item. An OLE registration error occurred. "The program is
not correcctly installed. Run Setup again for the program". I deleted
Outlook Connector and re-ran setup several times, but still get the same
message.

Can anyone tell me why I'm receiving this error, what it means and what to
do about it? Does it matter that I'm using the Student and Teacher Edition
of Office 2003?

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Which version of the Outlook Connector are you using? Have you tried
accessing the Qwest mail via POP?

Thanks for your response, Brian. I'm using Outlook Connector 12.1 published
3/27/2009.

I did try accessing the Qwest mail via POP, but had the same results. I
followed the instructions on Qwest's website on How to Configure MS Outlook
2003 for your msn.com E-mail. That says to use POP but didn't work. Windows
Live Help
https://help.live.com/help.aspx?mkt=en-us&project=liveidv1&format=b2&querytype=ke#sr1
says you can use a POP3 server IF you have a Hotmail subscription, but mine
is a free account, so it then says to download/install Outlook Connector.

Any other ideas? I've tried everything I can find about this topic and
still get the same results.

Free Hotmail/Live accounts are now accessable via POP (as of March 12). See
