OL2000 slow - use compression?

Running Outlook 2000 under WinXP on my laptop; travel frequently, so I keep
hundreds of messages (many with attachments) on my local drive. OL2000
frequently is slow to open, hangs-up or simply crashes. Is there a
"compress" feature or method of re-indesing these many messages so the
program will run a little smoother? TIA...

If your PST is getting large (in the Gb region), this could be the reason.
You can compact a PST to remove deleted space by right-clicking its root,
choosing Propertes, then Advanced, and Compact Now.
