Office 2003 Install...Newsgroup Problem

S

Steve K

Since installing Office 2003 it appears that Outlook
Express (OE) has disappeared from IE. I followed help
instructions to add NEWS from Go command but somehow the
NEWS button has disappeared on the toolbar and it has now
disappeared from customizing...I can't find it anywhere.

I read in another (vague) post that there is a known
problem with newsgroups with Outlook 2003. Any input?

Do I need to re-install OE again? Help!

PS I'm using XP Pro.

What is designated as your default newsreader in Control Panel > Internet
Options > Programs?

Russ -
Thanks for your help...that did it. Somehow in install process my default
newsreader setting was not set. It works now...

This appears to be happening in upgrade scenarios where the old convention
of setting Outlook (not OE) as the news reader persists.
Was your installation an upgrade? If so, what was the designated news reader
before you changed it to OE?

Russ,
I'm having the same problem with the lost news button.
Followed all the suggestions. Still no button.
This was an upgrade from Office 2002 in which I had OE as the designated
news reader.
Right now I have to use OE separate from Outlook to see the newsgroups.
Any further suggestions?
John

What do you mean? You'll always have to use OE separate from Outlook. OE is
the news reader, not Outlook.
