My computer locks up after I did the Windows Update for the first time and
installed all the new security things. I am using sp2. I get this error in
my event viewer:

office 10 rejected safe mode action

Google is no help. Any thoughts?

Pat,
You need to double-click the error in Event Viewer. What is the 'Source' &
'Event ID #'. Then hold down the left mouse button & highlight everything in
the 'Description' box. After highlighting, while pressing the 'Ctrl' key on
the keyboard, hit the C key once.
Open Notepad or Word to a blank or 'New' document. While pressing the 'Ctrl'
key on the keyboard, hit the V key once. The Event Viewer's 'Description'
box contents should be pasted into the document. If not try again. Now
highlight all the needed information in the document, or click Edit > Select
all, then Edit > Copy. Open a new newsgroup message, right-click inside the
message box & select Paste. Send this info so we can read it.

Thanks,
Drew

Please don't multi-post in the future.
What is the exact error from the Event Log?

Look at this post below. I just remembered that I activated over the phone
in which I had to get a new set of numbers. Then I installed Office. I
wonder if that had anything to do with it? I am going to remove Office and
reinstall to see if that fixes anything. I will get the Event # later.

Hi
I am having the same problem on only one of three machines we have
running . Did you find a solution?

Yes we resolved it, now the question is how? I believe it had to do
with the fact that when you first go into AccessXP it runs through a
"setup" routine, which if your calling it from an application, the
application cant respond to it. Therefore, whatever "user id" your
running under when you execute Access, you need to login to the machine
with that id and open Access and let it do it's "set up" thing. It was
a tricky deal, because we were not only switching to Office 10, we were
also switching to a Window 2000 server and SQL 2000. There may have
also been some rights issues on the server we adjusted as well. If I
find/remember anything else I'll get back to you.

Source: Office 10
Event ID: 2001
Rejected Safe Mode action : Microsoft Word.

Note, though, this is not just MS Word. It is an Office thing. I have read
elsewhere that it happens in Outlook, Excel, and Access. I just did a Repair
option in Office. It has also happened to others who were using SP1, so I
don't assumes it has anything to do with SP2. Hopefully the Repair will
help.
