Off Center Screens

Hello

I have WinXP SP2 Home, and even though this is more than likely a "cosmetic"
error, I am experience an issue with the Boot Splash Screens. Everything is
pushed to the left on the POST, which is cutting off the first few words or
characters on the left. This is also effecting the WinXP splash screen, where
the logo is really off center, and instead of saying "Copyright" on th bottom
left, all I see is "yright" (etc). When windows finishes it's boot,
everything is centered on on the monitor the way it is supposed to be.

How can i fix this?

Monitors store different position and size information for different
resolutions, so even though you got it on centre at your Windows desktop
resolution, it doesn't know what position the picture should be on screen at
the resolutions used by the BIOS and Windos boot screens.

If you change the position settings while the screen is a the appropriate
resolutions, it should remember them for next time.

The Windows boot logo is at 640x800, so you could change your desktop
resolution to that and then change the settings on the monitor. You will have
to make sure you complete the monitor settings before changing back.

To get the BIOS to stay on screen long enough to change your monitor
settings, hit whatever key gets you into the BIOS menus (typically DEL or
F2). When you're done, do a Ctrl+Alt+Del to reboot without changing anything.
Alternitively going into a command prompt and hitting Alt+Enter for
full-screen may be the correct res.
