OEM Installation Fatal Error

On the advice of a friend bought the OEM of XP Professional. I just bought a new system along with it so no support from Microsoft. It is an ASUS SK8V mb and I am not using raid at this time.

According to the log report the OS installation fails because: RegOpenKeyEx(System\Setup\Pid) Returned Error 2(2).

I have spent days trying to get this system working any help at all would be appreciated!!!!!
