odd duplicate network adapter problem

while trying to clean up machine i noticed 13
devices listed under the network adapters in
"Device Manager ->Network adapters" with
show hidden devices enabled.

ther are 3 duplicates of things like

WAN Miniport (NetBEUI, Dialin)
WAN Miniport (NetBEUI, Dialin) #2
WAN Miniport (NetBEUI, Dialin) #3

the same with "Dialout"

Similar problem with

Local Connection #2

where "Local Connection" (ie. #1) is shown
in the registry but not listed in "Device Manager"

I think the "Local Connection" duplicate
probably occured when i loaded the MOBO
specific drivers for my LAN card after MS already
installed a driver for the same card.
i thought i removed the device prior to driver install
but now i wonder if some other problems are related

What can i safely remove how to i know if i need some adapter ?
