ODBC Driver error '80004005'

V

Veronika

How do I open the web site in IIS MMC and make sure to set the application
root? (that is what Tomas recommended)
In order to get rid of

ODBC Drivers error '80004005'
Data source name not found and no default driver specified.

MS IIS/5.1, FP ext. 5.0.2.690, FP2003, Access 2000

Thanks

Right click My computer and select "Manage"
When the console opens click the plus signs by:
Services and Applications
Internet Information Services
Web Sites
Default Web Site

In the list that displays, right click the folder that contains your web and select Properties.
In the dialog that opens click the Directory tab.
On the Directory panel, click the Delete button across from Application Name.
The button will change to Create. Click it and the folder name for the web will show as the application name.
Click Apply and then click OK.
Close the MMC.

However this shouldn't be causing an ODBC error for datasource not found.
That's a different issue. Is this a local web or one on your web host's
servers? If it's local, did you set up a system DSN for the database in
Control Panel, Administration, ODBC?

I followed Steve's instructions and it worked ONLY once, the first time. Now
I get

Provider error '80004005'

Unspecified error

/Oldxx/Default.asp, line 18

which is= Connection.Open DSN_Name

I noticed that under Create New Data Source
Select a driver for which you want to set up a data source

there are many option like:

Driver do Microsoft Access (*.mdb)
Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)
Microsoft Access-treiber (*.mdb)

SQL Server (which is the one I believe I originally deleted...)

I tried the first two option, with the same result

If you are connecting to Access, then select:

Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)

We need to see the top portion of your Global.asa file, so you need to paste it as reply to group.

I am going from bad to worst..
I uninstalled MS/IIS, FP2002, FP2003; reinstall all 3 and now it says I
don't have any FP server extensions at all!
I have install the extension from Fp2000 disk and the sharepoint from 2002,
but still nothing!
please...

Veronika

I did that when I reinstalled IIs; when I checked install programs, both
extension 2000 and 2002 appear!
They are just nor working. I think I will try system restore to the day I
bought this laptop.... because after 2 full days of trying I am getting
nowhere...

Thanks to all who helped.. after rolling back and re-installing all the MS
software I got at least one web with database working
Now I have to figure out why the new webs site do not appear in my "network
Places" in FP2003. I can see only the web on my ISP there.

I wouldn't worry about the site appearing in Network Places as long as you can open them in FP, and
also work with your ASP page via the browser or Preview in Browser from within FP.
