OCR Software Doesn't work

Hello,
I have a Dell sx260 running windows xp profressional. It
is connected to an HP scanjet 8250 using OCR software Caere
Omnipage 10. One day the OCR software stopped working.
You click on the scan button in OmniPage and it blinks for
a second but nothing happens. I have tried reconfiguring
the scanner but this has no effect.

I uninstalled the OmniPage 10 software and then reinstalled
it but his actually made the problem worse. Before if you
went into the administrator account, you could still use
OCR, but now it does the same thing in the administrator
account too.

If you go to add/remove progrmas, it says that the last
time the software was used was January 14th. This is
despite having uninstalled the software and reinstalled it
and opened it in April.

Any ideas or am I stuck having to reinstall XP and starting
from scratch.
