ntvdm.exe continues 99% CPU usage

Hi, there. I recently want to clean up my hard drive. So I am trying to
uninstall some software. Suprisingly, when I unstall it, there appears the
ntvdm.exe occupying 99% CPU usage in Task Manager and never stops until I
kill it manually.

I know it's a 16-bit virtual machine for some old Windows application. The
date of the executable file is exactly the same is when I install SP2. So I
believe SP2 updated it. Can anyone tell me what's going on with this issue?
Thanks a lot.

It is the support of the environment in which some 16 bit program is
running; you need to identify what that might be - that is what will
actually be absorbing the resource

Thanks for the info. However, I've visited these links through google before
posting my question in this newsgroup, and didn't find any useful info.

Hi, Alex. The 99% CPU usage is because I try to uninstall some software. The
uninstall command is "unwise". Is it this command's problem? How can I track
the source of this problem?

I've seen some pple posted the similar question before. But none answered.

I have a client with the same problem. They are a DOS based inventory system
that can not be replaced at this time. For some reason the NTVDM.EXE just
became a probelm. Not sure what triggered it. Anyway, it sucks down 97-99% of
the CPU rendering other processing from very slow to no go. Do we have any
options?

Here is a link to a product that some others have found helpful in
this type of situation:

http://www.tamedos.com/

Note that I have no personal experience with this product whatever.

Good luck
