NTUSER.DAT and network drive share

Is there anyway to edit the NTUSER.DAT file to correct a problem with drive
shares? Here is the problem - my department has set up a Terastation drive.
If you setup the share in My Computer then go in to Network places and setup
the same share there, XP gets confused and won't let you access through
either. If you delete and try to reconfigure the share, XP can't find it.
The only way is to delete the user profile and have the user relog in as new.
As long as either share is configured, all is fine. Is there anyway to edit
the file so that the share can be seen instead of deleting the file and all
the bookmarks, settings, etc??

If I understand what you are doing (wanting access to a network share
that is always on), you don't need to be messing about with Network
Places and you certainly don't need to play around with NTUSER.DAT. If
this is the only network share, remove the Network Places icon from the
Desktop from Display>Desktop>Customize Desktop.

Open My Computer and use the Tools menu to map a drive to the network
share. The new mapped drive will appear in My Computer. Right-click the
icon for the new mapped drive and drag it to the Desktop to create a
shortcut to the share.
