nt authority\system profile

I had a client delete the NT authority\system profile. Now he has multiple
problems. I can't map a drive and all his apps are looking for the original
installation files. Anyone know what this profile does and if it can be
restored?
Thanks

Details of what was deleted may help.

What was deleted was actually the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM profile. Never had
this happen before. Trying to determine the ramifications and if it can be
restored.
Thanks.

Ok, should have been more specific. What is your interpretation and or
definition of the "NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM profile" ?

NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM is a user profile stored on the computer. In my work
environment, the profiles that are typically listed are any that have logged
in and created a profile, a few listed as "Account Unknown", probably having
to do with the SMS client, and a couple that are identifiable to the SMS
client. If I havn't made myself clear, please go to system properties, then
the user profiles tab. You will see the profiles listed there. Still trying
to understand what damage is done when deleting the NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
profile, and if recovery is possible.
Thanks for your consideration.

As far as I know it isn't possible to delete the system account. Also there
is normally no physical profile created/ maintained with the name NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.

Are you telling us a profile named;

%systemdrive%\E:\Documents and Settings\NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

was deleted? Not trying to be smart, just trying to understand what you
think was deleted.

Yes! Well sort of. Come to think of it, I've never seen an NT AUTHORITY
folder in the path you provided. However, I have many times seen NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM listed in the user profiles in system properties. A google
search will turn up many hits on NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM, but most have to do
with the old blaster message saying NT AUTHORITY was shutting the machine
down. I'm still not sure what circumstances create that profile, and why
deleting this profile causes damage. Hence, my inquiry here as to the nature
of that profile.
thanks again.

Unless you believe there is some problem I guess I wouldn't worry about it.
If the system account were to somehow be deleted then the operating system
would not be able to function at all.
