nslookup of domain name works but not ping

I am, using XP Home SP2. My dial-up connection was working fine for months.
Then a couple weeks ago I started having some sort of DNS-related problem.

Using IE6, and entering a domain like normal, the browser could not find the
domain. However, if I entered th IP address - bingo.

Similarly, nslookup of a domain name is successful, but pinging the domain
name does not. Pinging the ip address works.

ipconfig /all......

Rich,

Check your personal firewall, and make sure that the DNS servers are trusted.

If that doesn't help, check for LSP / Winsock corruption. Be persistent here -
try all 6 solutions listed.
